5 on Friday

Hi, friends!

I don't know about you, but for me this week has gone by SO fast! And no...I am NOT complaining one bit! Today I am linking up with the fabulous ladies behind 5 on Friday. If you've never done a link-up before, I highly suggest it! It has helped me find new blogs to follow AND is an awesome way for making new blog friends :)

ONE
If you are anything like me, I try to stay up-to-date on the news. Whether that is watching Good Morning America before heading into work or talking to my co-workers, I really do try to know what's going on in the world around me and to have an awareness of the week's biggest headlines...even when I don't understand it all OR actually care for certain topics that are talked about. So when I found theSkimm I immediately got excited! theSkimm is a daily newsletter started by get these; TWO FEMALES!

AREN'T THEY THE CUTEST?!
Not only does theSkimm make news easier to understand, but it breaks things down all with an interesting approach. Forbes magazine previously spoke on theSkimm and stated that "Recent Skimm newsletters have distilled everything from the financial crisis in Cypress to NCAA March Madness and Luluemon's see-through yoga pants". All you have to do to read theSkimm is give your email address and BAM, news at your finger tips every morning.

TWO
Pure Barre. I have only completed two classes but already feel "it". I think I feel what everyone has been talking about that must be so addicting. Is it the burn? The shaky legs? The barre exercises that remind me of nothing I ever did when I actually did Ballet? At this point I am not sure what it is, but I would be lying to you if I said I wasn't already thinking about my next class...oh LTB (Lift.Tone.Burn) how I have a love/hate relationship with you already. Next week will consist of a whopping 6 classes (I am only taking Tuesday off) so I can't WAIT to give you a full post on my first few weeks and how I am holding up!
THREE
Philosophy products. Oh where do I start? This brand truly sums it up quite nicely; "Philosophy is a brand that approaches personal care from a skin care point of view, while celebrating the beauty of human spirit". Currently I am obsessing over the love sweet love fragrance and lotion. My friend Allison wears this fragrance daily at work and I just had to ask her about it one day and go out and get it for myself! I constantly catch myself smelling my hands from the lotion and they are literally silky soft all day long. And it's an added bonus that each product has it's own special greeting on it; with clever names and meaning to every item.
FOUR
Fact...I have a huge sweet tooth...and it seems that in October, November and December I am always faced with temptation. We have October in which most celebrate Halloween and pass out candy to the kids. I always end up having leftovers and end up helping myself to those yummy little Reese Cups (insert guilty face). October is also my Mom's birthday month, so of course we enjoy some sweets on the 22nd. November is a great month not only because it's MY birthday month but also because we have Thanksgiving! Now I can say without question that my family loves us so good food and we tend to come up with some amazing pumpkin pies, sweet potatoes casserole dishes, and lemon bars especially in November. And to top it off, my Mom always goes to a local bakery to get me a cake made for my birthday each year (thanks Maxie B's)! And then we have December...and if you haven't caught on, there is yet another birthday and holiday in this month! On the 5th we celebrate my Dad's birthday and then Christmas towards the end of the month. Need I say again, we love our sweets, and my dad likes him a good ole' classic ice cream cake! So all in all, my mouth is watering right now, and I CAN'T WAIT to see what desserts are presented this year :)

FIVE
I am so thankful for my boyfriend Will and all he does for our relationship. A lot of times I forget to acknowledge the little things he does for me, but lately I have been trying to do a better job at thanking him and loving on him like I should. One thing we started to do while we were in a long distance relationship was to go through questions in this book called 101 Questions to Ask Before You Get Engaged by H. Norman Wright. This book is wonderful, simple and in my opinion, worth doing. Will and I started completing 3-5 questions a week over the phone and we learned so much about each other. After 3 years of dating, I think we both thought we knew all there was to know about each other but it turns out we were so wrong. Will and I started back this week doing the questions and I am so excited to continue learning about this boy I plan to one day marry. This journey of learning about each other is not always fun as you learn and hear things that you don't always want to know, but it's so valuable. You can take a peek into this book here!

    1. Elise!

You are so sweet! Thanks for your comment! My boyfriend and I now live together but he is a financial analyst so his hours are long and it is still at times like a "LDR" so we have continued to work through the book and it has been the best thing ever for us to do! I agree, couples should be intentional about preparing for marriage instead of rushing it....there is so much to learn about your partner and it's valuable to know each others likes and dislikes :)

      xoxo!

  7. I need to check out this book you're talking about!! What a great idea for long distance. And I have a huuuuge sweet tooth, which really stinks when I'm trying to be healthy! I ate half of a pint of Ben and Jerry's Half Baked... it was the fro-yo version though, is that better? hehe

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment! I will usually respond back to you via email (not here on the blog)...It's easier for me that way and hopefully it sparks a conversation for us! It makes me giddy that you're here and took the time to leave me a comment :)
