Mid-week Reflections

Happy Hump Day, friends! I am excited that we have made it halfway through the week because this weekend is going to be filled with date nights with William, Pure Barre and fall cleaning at the condo (MUCH needed)!

Don't get me wrong...I am excited about this weekend, but I am not by any means trying to speed through this week like I have some other weeks in the past. Why you might ask? Well for one, I got to hang out with the one and the only, April from A. Liz Adventures yesterday! April is one of the masterminds behind the well known '5 on Friday' link-up and no lie y'all, she is just as sweet as she appears to be on her blog :)

Last week, April responded to a blog comment I left her saying that she used to work my exact position at the current Company I work for (small world) and suggested that we get together and of course I said YES! We met up at Brixx for lunch and instantly clicked. There was not one awkward moment and she was so fun to talk to. We have a lot in common and talked about any and everything from work, to blogging, to family, dating/marriage, and much more. Two hours passed by and we were STILL at lunch; whoops!

So for anyone who hasn't checked out April's blog, you are missing out. After reading this post, you should just continue on over to her blog here. And while you are at it, you should even participate in the 5 on Friday link-up! It's a great way to find new bloggers and make new friends (obviously...ha!) April, I am already looking forward to the next time that we get together!

Later yesterday after work I ventured on over to LifeGroup that is held at our leader Holly's apartment. Previously I wrote a post that showcased two photos of my LifeGroup, but I never exactly explained what it is...so let me make sure to do that! Recently, Will and I started going to church at Forest Hill but wanted to somehow find a way to better "connect" with those who also went there. Before moving to Charlotte, both Will and I went to an amazing place called Vintage Church where we were members and part of what they called a "Community Group" or CG for short. I loved being a part of a CG because it enabled me to love on and serve others in the community that I lived in. So when I made the move to Charlotte, I knew that I had to find something like the CG I was once in. And although I loved serving others, I desperately needing a group of people who could be my support team when I needed to vent about life's messiness and difficult times.
Sweet Madison and I <3
So now I fast forward to after I had settled down in Charlotte. Spiritually I would call the first few months in this new city my "anxious period" because Will and I went through those first months not able to find "the church" we so longed to discover. We prayed and prayed and tried church after church until we gave Forest Hill a second attempt. Right around the same time that we started giving Forest Hill another try, a co-worker and now dear friend of mine named Madison told me to go with her to a LifeGroup Connect event (LifeGroup being similar to a Community Group) that Forest Hill was hosting.

After agreeing to go to the event and putting it down in my planner, I thought to myself "great, I will get to "meet and greet" the different LifeGroup leaders and pick one later down the road"...but NO that's not what happened.! At the event, Madison and I JOINED a LifeGroup. And it couldn't have been a better choice! Not only is our group leader Holly the most precious married girl ever, she was so welcoming and something about her personality just drew Madison and I towards her at the event. God must have known we needed this particular LifeGroup because all 15 of us girls get along so well and already love and care for on another (with an equal amount of respect and trust). Getting to see these girls on Tuesday nights is a highlight, and something I treasure and will NEVER take for granted. We have only met a handful of times, but I can't wait to see all that I learn from these sweet individuals...

So sorry for the long post y'all but I just wanted to end with a TED talk that one of the girls in my LifeGroup shared with us on vulnerability...something I personally deal with and am trying to work on. If you have time, I highly recommend watching the video! It's only 20 minutes, amazing, funny and can be found here.

  5. So glad you joined a Life Group, seems like such a great group of girls! Its amazing how God provides us with just what we need at the right times. Looks like you and April had an awesome time at lunch, too. Isn't she the sweetest? I'm a little biased though, I'm her little sister :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment! I will usually respond back to you via email (not here on the blog)...It's easier for me that way and hopefully it sparks a conversation for us! It makes me giddy that you're here and took the time to leave me a comment :)
