Weekend Recap

It's Monday, friends! I swear that almost everyone I know experienced either snow, cold rain, or some sort of winter weather this weekend, so I hope you all were able to stay warm and dry :) First off, I just wanted to say congratulations to Emily over at Beauty and the Greek for winning the PayPal Cash Giveaway! Be sure to check out this lovely gal's blog and for those of you who entered but did not win, no need to worry because there are some fun giveaway's coming in 2014 (you won't want to miss out on these)!

On Friday, I decided to head straight home from work to do a little cleaning around the house and play with the pup since some weekend plans had changed. And hey, that was fine by me because I was able to play around with my new camera some more too! Saturday morning, Will and I were able to sleep in a little before jump starting our day with breakfast at my favorite spot; The Flying Biscuit and then some Christmas shopping! There is something so magical and fun about shopping for others around the Holiday season. Wouldn't you agree? I don't know...maybe it's all the fun and festive decorations I see, the sweet smells of pines, hot coco and cinnamon, or the music playing softly in the background that brings out the little girl inside me :) I just LOVE it and had the best time going down isle after isle with Will beside me and a big shopping cart guiding our way.
Later on in the day, Will went to participate in the Let Me Run Charlotte 5k. Let Me Run is a 7-week program for boys in grades fourth through middle school that meets twice a week for about an hour were they get to learn about building healthy relationships through fun activities that also help improve personal strength, endurance, and overall wellness. Will's Company has been helping coach a school of boys in the Let Me Run program for a few years and it's always exciting for me to hear all the stories that Will comes home and shares with me. This is such a heartwarming and inspirational program that I urge everyone to learn more about.
After a productive afternoon (mostly on Will's part) we drove to Uptown to walk around, hand in hand, to see all of the glistening lights and decor that filled the windows of banks, restaurants, homes and stores. "Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful".
6:30 PM rolled around and it was time for us to head over to the Epicenter to see The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. To say I was excited would be an understatement. One of my closest friends, Caitlin raved all about how good the movie was, so I was anxious to be the judge myself. And yes, Cait and everyone else was right...it was SO good! I was at the edge of my seat a number of times, and left wanting more. I can't wait to get soaked up into reading the third and final book and for the last movie to come out.
Sunday, was full of rest and relaxation, cuddle time with Miller and a whole lotta' Christmas movies that I watched on ABC Family and the Hallmark channel. I was content. The weekend was great. I am thankful. Life is good... <3
